NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK
Standing Together to End Sexual Assault’s Program Director provides leadership and direction to the crisis intervention and counseling programs. The Program Director is responsible for the overall development, planning, and implementation of STESA’s crisis intervention and counseling programs. Ideally, the candidate has a working knowledge of sexual assault trauma-informed care and an understanding of the short and long-term impacts of an assault. The position is balanced with the opportunity to develop community partnerships to enhance the delivery and coordination of services. STESA’s Program Director is visionary with the ability to create programs to meet the needs of a changing and diverse community, while being grounded in the core STESA beliefs and values. The Program Director is skilled in optimizing staff strengths and leading teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Administration
- Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate all aspects of the crisis intervention and long-term counseling programs.
- Responsible for evaluating the delivery of services and make program enhancements to the crisis intervention and long-term counseling programs.
- Responsible for developing program policies and procedures in conjunction with crisis intervention and long-term counseling program staff.
- Coordinates the design and implementation of all program-related materials.
- Works with staff members to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for program volunteers including long-term counseling program interns, practicum students, and others providing counseling services within STESA’s counseling program
- Researches, prepares, and writes government grants, reports and ensures grant compliance.
- Reviews and ensures the accuracy of statistical reports to produce reports for grant funders.
- Maintain administrative files on the Crisis Intervention and Long-term Counseling programs.
- Works in collaboration with the associate and executive director to develop annual program plans and budgets.
- Reviews and ensures the accuracy of statistical reports regarding services in the Crisis Intervention, Long-term Counseling and Education Programs. Produces reports as required by funders.
Community Networking
- Networks with Santa Barbara County departments and community organizations to ensure optimal service coordination and delivery strategies.
- Creates opportunities to collaborate with community partners to further STESA’s mission and vision.
- Establishes and maintains close working relationships with referral resources including community-based organizations, school districts, colleges, medical and social service providers, and law enforcement.
- Attends and participates in meetings that focus on the delivery or expansion of services affecting survivors of sexual assault.
- Develops and sustains operational agreements with community partners to optimize the delivery of services.
Supervision
- Provide supervision and guidance to the Crisis Intervention Lead and Counseling Supervisor.
- Ensures counseling services are in alignment with the STESA’s standards and values.
- Ensures adequate staffing for the crisis intervention and long-term counseling programs.
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training and retention of the crisis intervention coordinating staff members and the long-term counselors.
- Responsible for conducting evaluations of the lead crisis intervention staff member. Ensures that the counseling supervisor conducts evaluation of the long-term counselors. These evaluations are to be conducted as described in the Employee Handbook.
Other
- Have a working knowledge of the subject of sexual assault and seek training to enhance skills and increase knowledge base.
- In the absence of the associate director conduct some of their duties as appropriate.
- Attend management meetings, staff meetings and other agency meetings as necessary.
- Contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork and mutual respect among staff and volunteers.
- Attend management, staff meetings and other organization meetings as necessary.
- Contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork and mutual respect at STESA.
- Perform additional duties as required to advance the goals of STESA.
REQUIREMENTS
- BA required, preferably in psychology, sociology or related field.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of successful management experience with private/public social services agency.
- Completion of STESA’s Crisis Intervention within 3 months of hire and Long-term Counseling training within 1 year of hire (STESA will provide these trainings).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with participatory management style/organization preferred.
- Background in grant writing and grant management.
- Experience in working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of issues pertinent to marginalized communities. Experience in developing programs which address the needs of these communities
- Well organized with excellent skills in time management and attention to detail.
- Maintain physical and mental composure while dealing with emergencies, crises, and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals both in person, over the telephone and virtually.
- General knowledge of California’s Board of Behavioral Sciences regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong computer knowledge, using PC, Microsoft Suite, Internet research and database applications.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation. Ability to drive safely and in compliance with all applicable laws while on STESA business.
- Perform additional duties as required to advance the goals of STESA.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITES
- Sit for 80% of the working hours.
- Type at a computer keyboard while seated at a desk.
- Lift and carry for brief periods up to 25 pounds from the floor to shoulder level.
- Bend, stoop and stand while filing in binders and files.
- Twist and reach while at a desk or computer terminal.
